Sunshine and gluttony in Tomales Bay

On Sunday I ventured north to the Tomales Bay Oyster Company in Marshall for a birthday BBQ. Surrounded by excellent company and an impressive spread of food, the day was spent sipping good wine and PBR, basking under the warm sun, and shucking and slurping varietals of oysters (I know, so stickin' bougie it hurts). I probably shared this with everyone I spoke to and their mom that day, but these briny, irregular-shaped bivalves are one of the most sustainable seafood options out there and provide the best source of zinc, which is an essential mineral that boosts immunity and promotes a strong reproductive system. Just more reasons to load up on these tasty suckers.

A fennel fronds mignonette is the perfect complement to a juicy Preston Point oyster.

Bustin' out the big boy.

Empty shells, desert boots and the bay's muddy shoreline.

Sun-soaked and happy.
